Hi, I'm Emily
Artist, face painter, and art teacher based in Holladay, Utah. I've been making things for a living long enough that “what do you actually do?” takes a minute to answer — so here's the long version.

I hold two AAS degrees in animation and illustration, and I've spent the better part of two decades studying under mentors I'm still learning from, showing work in local galleries, and teaching students of all ages to see the world through a creative lens.
My daughters, Aspen and Sage, are my most prized students — and proof that art is worth passing on.
I teach small-group art classes every Monday at my home studio here in Holladay. I paint faces at events across the Wasatch Front. And in between, I make fine art — portraits, landscapes, pet portraits, and still life — because making things is just what I do.
Before all of this I taught people to drive, which sounds unrelated until you've tried to teach a nervous eleven-year-old to commit to a brushstroke. Same job, different pedal.
How I paint
Painterly, colour-forward, and unapologetically loose.
I don't paint what I see — I paint what I feel. That's not a mystical thing; it's a practical one. A photograph already exists. What a painting can do that a photo can't is decide what matters and put the colour there.
So a dog's eyes get twenty minutes and the background gets four strokes. A landscape keeps the warmth of the afternoon and loses half the branches. Every commission is one of a kind, and every class is taught with the same care I put into my own studio work.
The short version

Teach
Small-group art classes for K–12 on Mondays, plus private lessons for teens and adults, out of my home studio in Holladay.
Commission
Pet portraits in oil and soft pastel, painted from your photo. Dogs, cats, horses, memorials.
Paint faces
Birthdays, festivals, corporate events, and reunions across the Salt Lake City area. Fully insured, ten-plus years in.
Make my own work
Portraits, figures, landscapes, still life. Some of it sells, some of it teaches me something, and both count.
